With the clocks going back last weekend, the Ski and Snowboard Show currently on in London, and snow falling in the Alps and Rockies, the excitement is no longer bubbling beneath the surface. Winter really is just around the corner and if you haven’t already planned your ski holiday, now is the time to start thinking about which resort to go to. If you’re looking for the top ski deals – in terms of last-minute discounts – then it’s still too early for most tour operators to be offering big price cuts. But if you’re travelling with a big group of friends or family, or you want a reasonable choice of where to stay, when to go and how to get there this winter, it makes sense to book as soon as possible.
That said, bargain-hunters are going to be interested in the first of the late-booking deals which are now starting to filter through – such as Ski Total’s £399 offer for a pre-Christmas week in a chalet-hotel Lech, including flights and transfers (see below). Lech is not as high as the usual early-season standbys, such as Val d’Isere, Val Thorens, Obergurgl & Co. But its does have its own cold and snowy micro-climate, and at the moment it looks as though we might get an early start to winter. Sno’s £404pp offer for St Anton, arriving December 15, looks tempting too, as does a week in Courchevel for £389pp with Inghams.
In our weekly post we feature the top ski deals from a variety of tour operators. Make sure you also check out the offers pages on tour operator websites, and don’t forgot the likes of ifyouski.com, igluski.com, Ski Solutions, Snowfinders and Sno. Check also our features on airline luggage allowances and driving.
