Great news! Summer skiing is drawing to a close in Europe. The French have reluctantly gone back to work at the end of Les Grandes Vacances. Consequently, Val d’Isere and Les Deux Alpes have shut down their lift systems. Hang on, closing lifts is good news? Yes, it means that autumn maintenance can begin. A drop of oil, tighten a few bolts, and bingo – the winter season (at least on the glaciers) is just a few weeks away. It’s time to bag a bargain and get your first trip booked.
