If you decide to hike or bike this summer, you’ll find they are two of the best ways of keeping fit between ski seasons. Or how about booking a summer holiday in the Alps? The Alps are arguably even more beautiful in summer than in winter, and there’s the chance to go road biking and mountain biking, horse-riding, hiking, play some high-altitude golf and even try wild swimming?

Summer in the Alps

Murren from £909pp with SNO
A stay at Hotel Eiger in Murren has been reduced from £1,174pp to £909pp for seven nights beginning July 31. Half board, Gatwick flights and transfers are all included in the cost. The four-star hotel is positioned near the mountain railway, which connects car-free Murren with Lauterbrunnen. The area is spectacularly beautiful, with waterfalls, lakes and peaks to hike to. Chalet Tirol is set on Mayrhofen high street and just a stone’s throw from the newly upgraded Penken cable-car, where numerous hiking and biking trails start. Situated on the upper two floors of the building, above a shop and café, Chalet Tirol has comfortable bedrooms, a pine-panelled dining room and brand new lounge area. A seven-night stay on a catered basis at the three-diamond Chalet Tirol is now from £399pp based on three sharing. Innsbruck from £48pp per night
Stay at Kaiser Max, a series of new designer apartments in Innsbruck in the Austrian Tirol. The city has access to hiking, biking, rock climbing, and summer skiing, but there’s also the Bergisel ski jump and the Golden Roof, which was decorated with 2,657 copper tiles for Emperor Maximilian I. Stay at the new Kaiser Max designer apartments, which are located in the Old Town area. Each of the nine apartments (sleeping up to six people) has state-of-the-art facilities and a fully-equipped kitchen. Les Balcons de Bellevarde is right in the entrance of Val d’Isere, facing the slopes, 100m from the shops and services, and 200m from the Funival railway. Tignes New Year for £527.25pp with Erna Low
Stay seven nights over New Year in the L’Ecrin des Neiges residence in high-altitude Tignes Val Claret and you’ll be saving 20% on accommodation. La Rosiere Ski-All-In next winter from £769pp with Skiworld
Book a Ski-All-In deal and get your lift pass and equipment hire/ski carriage included on top of accommodation, flights and transfers. Price is for chalet board basis for seven nights at the Chalet Tomasz in La Rosiere, departing from Gatwick on April 13. Bookings: Skiworld.

Ylläs in Lapland for £559pp with Inghams
Ylläs Log Cabins each have their own private sauna to relax in after a day of exploring, as well as a log fire and well-equipped, modern kitchen. Guests can ‘shop like a local’ and rent a kick-sled to bring back groceries from the nearby supermarket – or enjoy reindeer, bear and other delicacies in a local restaurant. There’s a group discount, free lift passes and a 5% discount in Val d’Isere; you’ll need to book the whole of Chalet Danielle to qualify. The chalet is mostly on the ground floor and has a very large terrace with outdoor hot tub and also benefits from a sauna, steam room and pool table. There are five twin rooms and one single; the living and dining room is open plan with a fireplace. Prices start from £730pp, which includes flights from Gatwick and transfers.
