Those of us who were lucky enough to be in the Alps in the last two weeks have enjoyed blue skies and sunshine, but after all that fine weather it’s good to know that it’s about to change for the worse – or better, depending on how you look at it. Heavy snow is forecast, which will give an added boost to the slopes for April and the Easter holidays.
So if you’re planning to squeeze in a trip between now and the end of the season, try and choose a resort with slopes at 1800m at the very least. Places like Val d’Isere, Val Thorens, Les Deux Alpes and Obergurgl are all good bets, along with the Aosta Valley and northern Dolomites which have been good all season. Isola 2000 apartment from £387 with Pierre & Vacances
Fly into Nice for a ski break in the South of France, spending a couple of nights in the city before or after skiing at the purpose-built resort of Isola 2000. There, the lifts rise to 2603m, and there’s still decent cover, thanks to heavy snow earlier in the season.
