If you do find yourself driving to the lifts each day, drive to the North Side, which is the locals’ secret. You won’t have to pay for parking there, or need to worry about shuttle buses from overflow car parks – you’ll be straight on the slopes.
Family tips
Another tip, if you are a young family, is to consider booking a double room and asking for a ‘cot’ (American English for a spare bed of normal proportions). The rooms are generally huge and are not charged by the number of people staying in them (as is often the case in Switzerland).
Fairmont Tremblant is one of the best placed hotels, with a door from the hotel leading directly on to the piste, and nice indoor and outdoor pools in the spa. In common with other hotels, some of the best deals here are offered through British tour operators. Le Westin Resort & Spa is another hotel in the heart of the pedestrian area, and has a boutique hotel atmosphere. Facilities include an outdoor saltwater pool and the Amerispa complete with exercise room. The in-house Yamada restaurant serves international cuisine.L’Ermitage du Lac is just a minute from the Cabriolet lift. Many of its rooms have discreet kitchenettes stocked with crockery and cutlery, so if you are going with children they are easily catered for. Unusually for a North American hotel, it offers breakfast as part of the package. Pack your best pyjamas as most people go down to breakfast in their jim-jams, so why not join them? The hotel also has a spacious outdoor hot tub. Marriott Residence Inn is located in the heart of Tremblant pedestrian village and ski-in ski-out, the hotel offers a variety of rooms and suites with well equipped kitchens and fireplaces.
