Snow Report – Thursday 13 February 2025
In today’s report we catch up on conditions across Europe, North America and Asia with snow in France and Turkiye and continued heavy snowfall in Japan.
Where’s the snow going to land next? We’ve scoured the internet to give you the best recommendations.
Now on with the snow!
Snow Report
After a great final day at Uludag Resort, Turkiye it was time to head East to continue my Turkish Road Trip.
Destination, Dorukkaya Resort an hour above the city of Bolu.
Dorukkaya is the neighbouring & connected resort to Kartalkaya Resort, which had the terrible fire incident a few weeks ago where so many people tragically lost their lives.
The hotels and 18km of slopes at Kartalkya are temporarily closed while investigations continue, but Dorukkaya is fully operational.
The stats don’t look impressive – 8 lifts (of which only one is a chair); 20km of slopes; and a vertical drop of 339m from the summit at 2,190m to the base at 1,851m – but this little gem of a resort skis big.
Very big.
It reminds me of my favourite Japanese resort Kiroro with immaculately groomed pistes; easily accessible off-piste terrain beside the groomed runs; wonderful tree skiing; and barely a soul on the slopes.
It was snowing when I arrived last Sunday evening and except for a few hours of sunshine here and there it snowed for the duration of my 3-night, 4-ski day stay at Dorukkaya Hotel with 40-50cm of dry, light powder transforming the mountain.

Next stop, Erciyes Resort.
Stay tuned.
Big, fat flakes were falling at Alpe d’Huez, France yesterday.

It’s safe to say that Luke knows snow.
He enjoyed a colossal 6.5m of new snow during his last minute 10-day trip to resorts big and small on Japan’s main island of Honshu.

Have the time to head further afield?
Then head West to California or East to Japan where conditions are still ‘powtastic’.
