Er, shouldn’t you be back in the chalet reading bed-time stories?
As you’d expect from a family-friendly resort, La Tania isn’t very rock and roll. If you’d like some nightlife you’d be better off staying in Meribel or Val Thorens. The resort has seven bars, including Pub le Ski Lodge, which is the main rendezvous for Brits and chalet staff, and gamely flies the flag for party animals in the resort. It has a 4-6pm happy hour, and a programme of live bands every Tuesday (most chalet staff have the day off on Wednesday, so this is their big night out).
Le Chrome Bar (+33 479 07 25 83) attracts a French as well as a British following, although in a resort where 95% of the visitors are British they’re always going to be outnumbered. La Taiga, known as The Tiger, is the best place in the resort for a less pubby atmosphere with leather sofas, a log fire, cocktails, and regular live music. Hotel Le Montana has a piano bar and occasional live jazz.
