World Snow Forecast For The Next 3-4 Days

wepowder.com

The Alpine resorts of Austria, France, Italy, and Switzerland will see a mix of weather the next 3-4 days. The freezing level will rise to 2,000m bringing 5-10cm of new snow up high, but rain below that level.

The Southern French resorts will see cooler temperatures with more snow forecast in the alpine. Isola 2000 could see 30-35cm on top of the 25cm which fell over the weekend.

Italy

It will be a similar story in the Italian resorts south of Turin, with Limone, Lurisia, and Prato Nevoso forecast to receive 25-30cm to add to the 40cm which fell yesterday.

The Aosta valley resorts of Gressoney and Cervinia and neighbouring Zermatt in Switzerland could see 10-15cm of new snow on top of the 20-25cm which fell over the weekend.

The freezing level in Andorra and the French & Spanish Pyrenees will be similar to that of the Alps with 5-10cm of new snow up high, but rain below that level. Formigal, Spain could see 15-20cm up high.

Isola 2000

It will be warmer in Central and Eastern Europe with village level temperatures reaching 12C in places. There’s a chance of precipitation on Wednesday with 5-10cm in the alpine but heavy rain at village level.

The warming trend continues further East with the Georgian and Turkish resorts experiencing freeze thaw conditions and sunny skies.

Temperatures remain well below freezing in the Nordic Countries of Finland, Norway and Sweden with sunny skies and perfect piste conditions forecast for the next 3-4 days. Narvik, Norway could see 5-10cm of new snow.

The Alberta and British Columbia resorts of Canada will see temperatures well below freezing with 10-15cm of new snow forecast. Whistler Blackcomb, BC is forecast to receive 30-35cm.

Temperatures will remain cold on the East Coast of Canada for the first half of the week with a mix of sunshine and slow flurries.

Most of the western US resorts will see a mix of sunshine and slow flurries through Thursday with temperatures remaining well below freezing.

The West Coast resorts of California will see a big storm moving in on Wednesday bringing 50-55cm of snowfall. Kirkwood could see 70-75cm.

Kirkwood

Oregon and Washington will see snowfall but to lesser amounts, with 30-35cm forecast.

Temperatures have risen on the East Coast of the United States with freeze thaw conditions top to bottom through Thursday.

The ‘yo-yo’ Spring weather continues on Japan’s main island of Honshu with freeze thaw conditions, sunshine, and rain to most levels on Wednesday. Winter isn’t over just yet though. A storm system is moving in next weekend.

It’s still very much Winter further North on the island of Hokkaido with January snow conditions in March, or ‘Jarch’ as it’s known locally. Temperatures remain below freezing and there’s a brief break in the weather before snow returns on Thursday.

Where To Ski

There will be great Spring skiing across the Alps if you head above 2,000m but for new snowfall and refreshed pistes look to Italy’s Aosta Valley and Zermatt in Switzerland.

Fancy a road trip? Then fly to Genoa or Turin and drive an hour or so to Limone, Lurisia, and Prato Nevoso for a powder filled start to the week.

Have the time to head further afield?

Then head West to Whistler Blackcomb, Canada or East to Hokkaido, Japan for ‘Jarch’ – January conditions in March!
