Skiing and snowboarding have their share of April Fool’s Day jokes and spoofs – below are a few of our favourites. Have you any others to add? Spoof resorts maybe?
Crystal’s New Staff Uniform
Crystal Ski has revealed its uniform for the 2014-15 winter season. Keeping up to date, they’ve decided to ditch the tired polo shirt and trouser combo, for the more comfortable, versatile and fashionable onesie. Onesies are, of course, exactly what you need when working in the snow.
Arc’teryx Rebranding
Canadian outdoor clothing manufacturer Arc’teryx today announced it is rebranding. Effective from April 1, the company is switching from the condensed word, Arc’teryx, to its easier-to-pronounce root: Archaeopteryx. A redesign of the new logo was unveiled today along with the two-year multi-million dollar plan to entirely erase the previous name. When asked if the cost of the new look was going to be reflected in future pricing, the company had “no comment at this time.”
Ski Aboard a Cruise Ship
A few years ago IgluCruise created an exotic ski trip where you could ski the Caribbean. This unusual cruise went to and from Barbados, making stops at other Caribbean islands. The fictitious ship had a 150-meter-long outdoor ski slope on its top deck with a surface made from all-weather Perma-Snow. A poma provided the uplift as the ship sailed through the Caribbean Sea.
Burning Snow
Here’s one that appeared in 2008: the potentially dangerous practice of snow-burning in rural Manitoba.
Ready For the Scottish Ski Slopes?
Will they be drinking this at bars and cafes in the Scottish resorts?
