But first, a word of warning. There are two accommodation centres here – Fai della Paganella and Andalo, which are two entirely separate villages. Andalo itself is the one to be in if you’ve got children, or you’re in the market for some after-hours buzz. Fai della Paganella is for those on a really tight budget.

Swimming-pools and spas
All things considered, the best place to stay in town is the four-star Park Hotel Sport – a highly-rated, family-friendly four-star which has one of the best locations in town – set back from the road, but right in the middle of the resort. It was opened in 1938, and over the years has acquired a rather Tirolean style – like most hotels here. It has family rooms and its own, small pool.
Also worth considering is the four-star Hotel Cavallino – a scrupulously-run, family-owned hotel with its own pool, which has recently been refurbished. Several rooms are interconnecting for families. The hotel is a five-minute walk from the lifts. The Comfort Hotel Astoria is the pick of the three stars – recently refurbished, with a new pool, a kid’s club, and family rooms.
The last time Welove2ski was skiing in Andalo, we stayed at the four-star Piccolo – a mid-range, mid-sized, family-owned hotel. Staff were friendly, and the one serious drawback (provided you’re not looking for cutting-edge style) is the distance from the lifts (a 10-15 minute walk). There’s a bus every 30 minutes, but you may well find yourself using the car: all a bit of a hassle if you’ve got kids. By way of compensation, it’s only five minutes to the highly-rated AcquaIn pool and spa.
