The choice in La Tania lies largely between tour operator chalets that are mostly located in the woods immediately above the resort, apartments in the village centre, and a couple of simple hotels. Its ski-in, ski-out nature and absence of traffic make it a popular destination for families with small children. One tour operator – Le Ski – has its own creche in the resort.
Pleasant, modern accommodation at (relatively) affordable prices
Apartments are, on the whole, a cut above average, and can be booked through British tour operators such as Peak Retreats, Erna Low, Ski Amis or PowderBeds.
One or two of the hotels – such as the Montana (see below for details) – can be booked for a weekend as a well as a week. All of which makes La Tania a good option for the short-break brigade, who often struggle to find accommodation they can book for less than seven days elsewhere in the Three Valleys.
Some of the apartments are ski-in, ski-out. For example, the Residence Le Britania apartments are slap-bang in the middle of the resort, next door to the ski school meeting area and at the bottom of the pistes. They’ve been recently refurbished in crisp, unfussy style and each has its own balcony.
Le Ski’s Chalet MarMau, set in the attractive area known as Le Foret, has its own airy and bright creche. Meanwhile, Ski Amis’ Chalet Balkiss is close to both pistes and lifts and is equipped with Hypnos beds and a wood-burning stove.
Chalet Hanneke has a hot tub in all seven en-suite bathrooms. The chalet is run by tour operator Alpine Action and is within easy reach of the public lift that takes you down to the piste.
Ours des Montages is a luxury chalet 70m from the piste that runs down to the gondola. The resort centre is an easy walk away. The double-height living room has gorgeous turquoise sofas and huge windows. There’s an outdoor hot tub, a games room, and sauna. The five bedrooms include a family room with bunk beds.
Chocolate-box pretty Chalet Pleroma is a British-owned property that is great for families and smaller groups. The chalet has an outdoor hot tub and four ensuite bedrooms. It’s fully catered, featuring freshly prepared local produce and includes modern European, Asian fusion, traditionally British and local Savoyard specialities.
Chalet Belvedere is a luxury detached chalet located on the edge of the Moretta Blanche piste in a private cul-de-sac, so the slopes are just a few steps away. The beautiful open-plan living/dining area has floor-to-ceiling windows and lots of comfy seating around the log fire. There is a large cinema room, a heated (and carpeted!) boot room, a sauna and an outdoor hot tub.
Hotel Le Montana is a functional, no-frills kind of place in the village centre. It is praised for its service and its piste-side location.
