The mountain restaurants are mostly self-services, but with some good exceptions. La Molière (+33 476 80 18 99) is at the foot of the pistes, and Le Diable au Coeur (+33 476 79 99 50), at 2400m, has an open fireplace and well-prepared regional cuisine. Both are recommended. Le Panoramic (+33 476 79 06 75), at 2600m, is a mountain hut with a great atmosphere and some of the best fare in the resort. La Fee (+33 476 80 24 13) is another recommended mountain artery.

In the evening there’s a good choice of restaurants and some reasonable prices. The gourmet choice is Michelin-starred Le P’tit Polyte which has modern cooking using local specialities, and an excellent wine list. “Worth a visit if you have something special to celebrate during your stay,” said a reader. L’Abri (+33 476 79 21 41) has an alpine ambience.

La Spaghetteria (+33 476 79 05 77) is recommended for its wide choice of pasta, Crepes a Gogo is popular, and Tribeca Caffé (+33 476 80 58 53) for pizzas. Blu Salmon (+33 476 79 29 56) is typically French, and Il Caminetto is a typical Italian restaurant. Smokey Joe’s (+33 476 79 21 70) offers good-value Tex-Mex. La Patate, (“a great place to eat”) and Le Paellou (+33 476 80 51 54) both serve raclette and fondue in an alpine atmosphere. Le Grain de Sel (+33 476 80 50 30), at the foot of the slopes, is highly rated for its pizzas.
