Snow Report: Easter Snow Hunt

Snow Report – Thursday 10 April 2025

Today’s snow report takes you on a quick spin around Europe, North America, and Asia—think sunshine in the Alps and fresh dumps in Georgia, Norway, and the US.

Wondering where the next big snowfall will hit? We’ve done the digging so you don’t have to.

Let’s get into it.

Snow Report

Our ‘on the snow’ reporters have been enjoying great Spring conditions.

Passo Tonale Snow Report, Italy

The first week of the Easter Holidays has been sunny, warm, and dry at Passo Tonale in the Trentino region of Italy. I’ve enjoyed the full gamut of Spring snow conditions with firm & fast pistes until lunchtime followed by soft bumps in the afternoon.

On the other side of the pass the Presena Glacier – which rises to 3,000m – is still enjoying Winter conditions with dry, chalky snow on piste.

Coronet Peak Snow Report, New Zealand

New Zealand has seen its first decent accumulation of snow for the 2025 Winter Season. Fingers crossed it’s going to be a bumper Winter south of the Equator.

World Snow Forecast For The Next 3-4 Days

WePowder.com

The sun is still shining across Austria, France, Italy and Switzerland but we could see a change in the weather over the weekend.

The freezing level will climb to 3,200m bringing freeze thaw conditions to all levels and the chance of rain below 2,500m.

There will still be great piste skiing in the alpine for most of the ski day and the ‘corn cycle’ is beginning off-piste. This is where the snow surface goes through a number of freeze and thaw cycles, transforming the surface to a smooth layer with a velvet like texture.

The Southern French resort of Isola 2000 could see 10-15cm of new snow on the highest slopes on Sunday with more snow forecast for next week.

The lower peaks of Andorra and the French & Spanish Pyrenees will see similar conditions but higher temperatures overall and the greater chance of rainfall.

Central and Eastern Europe has warmed up bringing similar conditions as the Alps.

It will be a snowy end to the week at the Georgian and Turkish resorts with 25-30cm of new snow forecast at Uludag, Turkiye. Gudauri, Georgia is expecting 45-50cm and Tetnuldi, Georgia could see 50-55cm.

Georgia

Temperatures will hover around freezing in the Nordic Countries of Finland, Norway and Sweden with freeze thaw conditions and 5-10cm of snowfall on the highest peaks. Narvik, Norway and Are, Sweden are expecting 40-45cm of new snow.

The Canadian resorts of Alberta and British Columbia will see below freezing temperatures and 5-10cm of new snow. Whistler Blackcomb could see 30-35cm of new snow above mid-mountain with heavy rain at village level.

The temperature will hover around freezing on the East Coast of Canada with 5-10cm of new snow forecast at Le Massif, Quebec.

After a cold and snowy start to the month at the Western US resorts the next 3-4 days will see a warm spell move in to the region bringing sunshine and freeze thaw conditions.

The West Coast resorts of California will see clear skies, sunshine, and above freezing temperatures.

Canada

The Oregon, Washington and Alaska resorts will see 10-15cm through Thursday. Mount Baker, Washington is expecting 30-35cm on top of the 50cm which fell yesterday. Alyeska, Alaska is forecast to receive 60-65cm.

The East Coast of the United States will see temperatures hovering around freezing across most of the region with 10-15cm of new snow forecast for Jay Peak, Vermont.

Spring has sprung on Japan’s main island of Honshu bringing sunshine, freeze thaw conditions, and light rain below mid-mountain but 10-15cm of new snow above.

It’s warm up North on the island of Hokkaido with clear skies and sunshine turning to heavy rain top to bottom on Sunday.

Where To Ski

There will be very good Spring skiing across the Alps but head to north facing slopes above 2,500m for the best conditions.

Isola 2000, France and the surrounding resorts are your best bet for Western European powder.

Gudauri and Tetnuldi, Georgia are the best choices out East with snow forecast through to mid-April.

As has been the case for most of the Winter, Narvik is the go to destination up North. Alternatively head to Are in Sweden.

Further afield a Spring trip to Alyeska, Alaska, USA is worth the travel time.
