In contrast to the meagre provision of mountain restaurants, Sun Peaks Village is well-stocked with restaurants. Among those worth targeting are the Oya sushi restaurant in the Hearthstone Lodge and Cahilty Grill & Bistro (+1 250 434 0279) in Nancy Green’s Cahilty Lodge. Among the newer options, Voyageur Bistro in the Kookaburra Lodge has a good Canadian menu of bison, berries, and local fish. Its walls are decorated with a collection of Canadian artefacts. Other eateries include Bella Italia in the Hearthstone Lodge, Black Garlic Bistro (+1 250 578 7758) in the Heffley Boutique Inn, and Bottom’s Bar & Grill (+1 250 578 0013) in the Coast Sundance Lodge.

Save your appetite for supper

On mountain-dining is limited to the self-service Sunburst Restaurant (+1 250 578 7222) at the top of the Sunburst Express. A reporter commented: “The grim restaurant on the mountain has improved. The fries and burgers are gone and it’s now all soups, chilli, sandwiches and pasta”.

Still, in a resort as compact as this, that’s not a big problem – all you have to do is simply ski back down into the base village and pick up a snack there, or sit down at one of the table-service restaurants. Mantles Restaurant & Lounge (+1 250 578 6000) in the Delta Sun Peaks Resort uses local ingredients, whilst Masa’s Bar & Grill (+1 250 578 5434) in the Day Lodge serves soups and salads. Both offer all-day dining.
