There’s nothing quite like a week’s holiday in the mountains – whether in snow in winter or among the fields and flowers in summer. The Night of Lanes returns to Bourg Saint Maurice on the evening of August 10 when the traditional French village will provide the setting for an urban obstacle race, with the small winding streets obstacles in themselves. Teams of two and entry is 3€ per person. The town makes a great base for hiking and exploring the wildlife at nearby Vanoise National Park, for the legendary cycling routes of the cols de l’Iseran and the Petit St Bernard, and for watersports on the Isere River. Built in 1790, and once the home of the local Notary, The Manoir in Morzine has been completely renovated with all the modern-day essentials.
