News From Around the Ski World

It’s the first week of the Easter holidays with many making their way to the mountains this past weekend and more heading to the snow through the week.

The good news is that with plenty of new snow above the mid-mountain level across the Northern Hemisphere the past seven days conditions will be good for the duration of the 2-3 week holiday period – the last hurrah for many resorts this season.

The not-so-good news is temperatures are rising rapidly below mid-mountain level bringing slushy conditions by day’s end and periods of rainfall at village level.

So if you haven’t booked yet:

  • Head high – slopes above 1,700m are in great shape
  • Head north – the Nordic resorts are still cold with great snow conditions top to bottom
  • Head east – the Georgian and Turkish resorts are in great shape with new snow and a lack of Easter crowds
  • Head west – the mountain states and provinces of the USA and Canada are having some of their best conditions of the season

But regardless of where you end up, always remember that a day on the mountain is always better than a day at work or school!
