The ESF has English-speaking instructors for either group or one-to-one private lessons. Elite Ski is a La Rosiere-based British ski school affiliated to the ESF, which offers private lessons and intermediate clinics, off-piste and heli-skiing. Ride n’ Style is an off-piste and freestyle ski and snowboarding school for advanced levels. Evolution 2 La Rosiere offers group and private lessons for skiers and snowboarders, plus adventure activities including snowshoeing, dog-sledding, paragliding and snowkiting (one of the newer sports available here).

Final points

As usual with ski schools in Europe, always check before signing-up that English-speaking instruction will be available, if you need this. There’s no better way of getting to know a new ski area and finding your ideal terrain than skiing with a local guide/moniteur.

“Very family orientated,” was how one reporter put it. La Rosiere is a Famille Plus Montagne destination, a national quality benchmark which pledges to provide a special welcome for families. Two ESF Les Galopins creche/clubs take children between 18 months and 12 years, with organised activities (including tobogganing and snowshoeing) from three years upwards. Other children’s facilities include skating (four to eight years, accompanied by parents) and a themed trail to follow animal tracks. Tour operators Esprit and Ski Beat both run nurseries and offer babysitting.
