There are over 20 enticing mountain restaurants in Obertauern. In the Lürzer Alm you can taste Austrian specialties such as Wiener Schnitzel, Germknodel, Topfenstrudel and Apfelstrudel – and drink fine wines – in a warm and lively atmosphere. Hochalm (+43 6456 7318522) has good food. Almrausch is also open in the evening. Also try Gasthof Flubachalm for its home cooking, and the Edelweiss Hütte (+43 6456 7653).

In the evening, Bacchuskeller in Hotel Regina, and Der Sailer – in the hotel of the same name, are both recommended. The restaurant in Sportinghotel Marietta has a ‘live cooking bar’ where your chosen dishes are created by chefs in front of you. Wagner Stub’n is said to have reasonable prices. According to reporters, Hotel Kohlmayr Royal has “Fantastic food” and Hotel Alpina also has excellent cuisine.
