Big White’s Ski & Snowboard School has a sound reputation. It incorporates Telus Heavy Metal Flight School, which teaches terrain park technique. British-run Snow Skool offers instuctional programmes for gap year students.

When it comes to the kids, Big White is an excellent resort. There’s a state of-the-art children’s centre, ski school and learning zone. The Happy Valley area is a safe and secure place to learn.

Tot Town Daycare is for little ones from 18 months to five years and has been voted “Best Place to be Abandoned by Your Parents” by Ski Canada Magazine. Kid’s Centre (+1 250 418 6101) cares for little ones from three years old, with optional ski lessons included. Both are warmly recommended, with group classes that include Mom & Me and Dad & Me, along with supervised evening activities.

A great choice of evening activities for kids

The Ski & Board School runs teen programmes in the evenings and Telus Flight School is an intensive park and pipe camp for confident riders and parallel skiers aged 13 to 17, with lessons in the evening too. Other activities include carnival nights and a kids’ climbing wall. Or you could visit the Happy Valley Adventure Park, which features ice-skating, ice-hockey, North America’s only ice-climbing tower, dog-sledding, mini z’s (kids’ snowmobiling), and snow-shoeing. Highlight is tubing on the Mega Snow Coaster at Happy Valley, where specially groomed lanes allow all ages to enjoy a high-speed ride down the slopes and a lift back to the top.
