If you missed out on the best ski season in memory – or have recently returned from your ski holiday and can’t wait for the next one – the good news is that the early booking offers are well underway and include savings of up to 42%.

Meanwhile, how about considering a summer holiday in the Alps? The mountains are just as beautiful – some would say ever more so – as in winter. Activities include road biking and mountain biking, swimming in natural lakes, hiking, golf and horse-riding. It’s a great way to keep your ski-fitness levels going!



This summer

Samoens three-week holiday from £336pp with Peak Retreats
Stay at the Fermes de Samoens, which is located 800m from Samoens village centre, 400m from the nearest shops and 200m from the bike tracks. Facilities include two swimming-pools, a lounge with an open fire, a pool table and tea-making facilities, sauna and steam room, and car parks. 21 nights self-catering is now from £336pp* (was £448pp) including standard return midweek ferry crossings. Chamonix action from £399pp with Inghams
There’s a new range of adrenaline-fuelled excursions in Chamonix this summer, so you can try out glacier hiking, white-water rafting and tandem paragliding. Another option is to spend an unforgettable night at the newly renovated Refuge du Montenvers (built in 1880 for mountaineers) on the Mer de Glace – watch the sun go down and enjoy some star-gazing after a delicious three-course dinner. The excursions can be pre-booked from £105pp. Stay seven nights on a catered basis at three-diamond Chalet Hotel Sapinière from £399pp based on four travelling. Price represents a saving of £212pp and includes return flights from Gatwick or Bristol to Geneva, and airport transfers. The package is valid for travel departing on May 30. Sainte-Sorlin apartment from £255 with Summer France
Fancy a two-week holiday in the mountains for the price of one? You can explore resorts including Flaine, Saint-Lary Soulan and Les Orres, all of which have lots of summer activities. For example, stay at Residence Les Fermes at the foot of Col de la Croix de Fer, the mountain pass above Saint Sorlin d’Arves. The property is in a good location for hiking, biking, horse riding, and canyoning, and is a short walk from the town centre. After an active day you can relax in one of the hot tubs or saunas, or enjoy a swim in the indoor pool. Each apartment comes with a fully-equipped kitchen, comfortable living room and a private terrace. Morzine in June from £35pp per night with VIP Chalets
Chalet Nevada provides the perfect place from which to explore Morzine in the summer months. The resort is perfect for those just looking to relax, or for people wanting a complete adrenaline-fuelled adventure. Both adults and kids can get involved in cycling, walking, climbing, swimming, and horse riding. The holiday is priced from £35pp per night in June, based on a minimum of three nights of serviced self-catered stays. Alpbachtal from 130€ per night
Travellers after an adrenalin rush should head to the Wiedersbergerhorn Mountain in the Alpbachtal Valley, which now features the Alpbachtaler Lauser Sauser alpine coaster. Opening on May 19, the raised track ride starts at an altitude of 1845m – descends more than 134 vertical metres over two jumps and through two 360-degree twists – and reaches up to 42kmph. Three-to-eight-year olds can ride with a nine-year-old or over, whilst children over eight are allowed a sledge of their own A single ride costs from €8 per child up to eight, €9 per youth up to 16, €17 per adult, and the ride opens 9.30am-4pm daily. Morzine activity holiday from £557pp with Alpine Elements
Spend a week at Hotel Hermine Blanche in Morzine from £557pp on the week starting June 10, from £821 in July and £750-843pp in August. The hotel is great for families and has a hot tub, sauna, indoor/outdoor pool, and for cyclists there’s a bike mechanic, bike storage, and a jet wash. The price is for half board including flights and airport transfers. An all-inclusive Active Pack (worth up to £358)in Morzine includes three-day MTB hire, kids club, white water-rafting session, six-day walking lift pass, ½ day guided walk/hike, six-day pass to the aquatic centre, kayak or SUP session. Next season

Whistler from £903pp with Skiworld

There are early booking discounts for next year’s ski holidays, with savings of £100pp when booking the weeks of January 6, 13, 20 or 27, or March 10. For example, you can stay at Chalet Bel Sol in Val d’Isere, which is in the heart of the resort. The chalet sleeps six to eight people in four bedrooms and is priced from £1,349pp (down from £1,449pp saving £100pp) arriving January 6.
