Midsummer’s day is history…and the start of the season is less than 20 weeks away. Meanwhile there are still plenty of offers for summer in the Alps – which makes a great alternative to a beach holidays for active people who fancy some hiking or mountain biking, golf, tennis or swimming in a crystal clear lake.

Summer in the Mountains…including Events

Davos for £467pp with SNO
Self-catering holidays are one of the most cost effective ways to experience Switzerland’s mountain roads by bike. Solaria Apartments in Davos have been reduced from £613pp to £467pp, for the week beginning August 30. There’s a brand-new festival created specifically for women. Taking place from Thursday June 29 to Sunday July 2 at Ischgl in the Austrian Tirol. Women’s Summer Festival is designed for those keen to get-up-and-go and revolves around sport, wellness, fashion and fun. You can try pilates, yoga, enduro riding, hiking, via ferrata, e-biking and SUP (stand-up paddling), check out the latest sporting gear and there’s a party too. Val d’Isere Electric and hybrid vehicle show
The leading show in the Alps that explores alternative energy in transport, is back in Val d’Isere from July 13-16, with around 100 brands showcasing innovations. There’s a full programme of family entertainment, and the show is expected to attract some 15,000 visitors. It’s a chance to see driverless cars in action, along with the latest in e-bikes and e-motorbikes on display, and all kinds of offbeat innovations – many of which can be tested. Winter in the Alps

Reberty-les-Menuires chalet from £11,235 with Powder N Shine
When you book a whole chalet you will receive three full days of private instruction (worth €1,300) with ESF Les Menuires. Three catered chalets are currently available for the weeks of December 16-23 and 23-30 in Reberty village (above Les Menuires, with easy access to high-altitude Val Thorens). La Plagne short break for £401pp with Alpine Elements
On January 3, stay for four nights at £401pp. There’s also £50pp off, and a super-group discount for bookings of more than six people – saving from £50 to £125pp. Accommodation is half board in Chalet Piccard, which sleeps 12 people and is located at the centre of La Plagne.
