Now there's no arguing...The season is off to strong start.

The ski season is off to very respectable start - and conditions are likely to improve further at the weekend.

Right now, early-season conditions are excellent. Let's hope the coming thaw is short-lived.

In the short term, we're expecting a sharp thaw. But next week's forecast is looking promising.

Mild weather returns midweek - but there's the chance of another cold snap next Monday.

November is off to a promising start, and the forecast looks chilly for the week head. But we mustn't get too excited just yet.

It's less than we were expecting, but at least the eastern Alps will have a cool week.

Good news for the glaciers: snow will fall across much of the Alps on Sunday and Monday.

The glacier ski season is in full swing in the Alps, but even the highest slopes will be touched by the coming thaw.

Phew. The snow's come right on schedule. Though we'll have to put up with another thaw next week.
