For a last-minute trip to the Alps, here’s where to find a great skiing deal for April. The ski season will be over in a month’s time, but there’s still time to take advantage of this season’s wonderful snow.

Make sure you stay safe: take local advice and have all the necessary equipment with you before even considering leaving the marked piste.

Gressoney in April from £1,459pp with Esprit Ski
With great ski schools and child-friendly restaurants, Gressoney offers the family an affordable alternative with lift passes, ski hire and mountain lunches often cheaper than those in France or Austria. Stay seven nights chalet board basis in three-diamond Chalet Hotel Valverde from £1,459pp for a family of three (two adults and one child). Flaine apartment with indoor pool from £79pp with Ski France
Save more than 55% at Residence Les Terrasses de Veret in Flaine. The property is located in the centre of the town, next to the Grands Vans chair-lift and the ESF ski school. After a day on the slopes, relax in the indoor heated swimming-pool, unwind in the outdoor Jacuzzi or snuggle up next to the fireplace in the communal living room. A group of 12-14 people can take sole occupancy of Chalet La Rocheure in Val d’Isere this April. Prices start at £899pp for a seven-night stay beginning April 8, with Stansted flights, airport transfers and chalet catering included in the cost. This wood-and-stone chalet is a former farmhouse with original features dating back to the 17th century. It has an open fire and sauna and you can ski to the door in good conditions. Bookings: SNO.

La Clusaz apartment for £545 with Erna Low
On the week commencing March 31 you can book an apartment in the Mendi Alde for seven nights in La Clusaz for £545 and save 25%. A one-bedroom four-person apartment was £726 and is now £545. The four-star residence was brand new for winter 2016-17 and has a covered passageway leading directly to Bossonet lift for access to the 125km of slopes. The charming and traditional village centre is five minutes’ walk away. The apartments feature modern interiors, sleep two to eight people and each have a balcony or terrace. Bookings: Erna Low.

St Anton at Easter for £518pp with Snowfinders

Tignes in April from £749pp with Inghams
